Sustainability

  • Buildings have been designed to make the best possible use of natural lighting and ventilation, substantially reducing the need for air conditioning and artificial lighting and thereby minimizing the carbon footprint.

Functionality

  • Learning areas have four classrooms clustered around a central, dedicated craft and technology area, allowing teachers to maintain full supervision over students engaged in multiple activities.
  • Retractable walls between pairs allow for collaborative teaching and learning opportunities.
  • The large conical membrane of the central undercover area provides good natural light levels and is acoustically more effective than a traditional metal deck roof. Importantly, the membrane/tilt-door combination provides lamina flow ventilation resulting in comfortable conditions on a year-round basis.
